Yesterday the movie director Aishwarya along with her husband and male of lead of the movie Dhanush and female lead Shruthi Hassan launched the music of the much spoken about music of the movie ‘3’.

The album has been scored by debutant music director Anirudh Ravichander.

Amitabh Bachchan was touched and humbled by the gesture.

“And… when complete Entertainer announced, Dhanush sings live from audience, a Kolaveri Di number, but words to suit the occasion!! Dhanush’s words were ‘Why this Kolaveri, Kolaveri, Kolaveri… B… big B… TRP’. Brilliant absolutely!! So lovable and so good!” he tweeted on his Twitter page.

Amitabh Bachchan was one of the first celebrities to declare his love for ‘Kolaveri Di’ song through Twitter account.

‘Kolaveri Di’ song is part of the movie “3″ that is being directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya. Kamal Hassan’s daughter Shruthi Hassan stars opposite Dhanush in the movie.

The song “Kolaveri Di” was released as promotion for the movie on November 16 has garnered more than 25 million hits till date, becoming one of the top songs of the year.

The song is so popular on YouTube that they have decided to award the song ‘YouTube Gold Award’, which is given to viral songs across the globe.

“It is true. The record label has received official intimation. I don’t know if they will have a function to present the award but yes, ‘Kolaveri’ has been chosen for the award,” said Anirudh to IBN.

Not only that, ‘Kolaveri Di’ has also managed to make it into the new edition of Time Magazine.

“I’m not sure about this fact but someone I know told me that it is after 20 years after it featured a story on ‘Roja’ that the magazine is running such a story again,” he said.

The movie ‘Roja’ inevitably reminds us of the maestro AR Rahman. And when asked if he plans on competing with him, Anirudh said, “Oh no, Rahman sir is my inspiration. I will happily retire if I manage to accomplish even five percent of what Rahman sir has achieved. I’m just one song old and have a long way to go.”

The comment earned varied responses from the people.

“Its a barrage of comments about my comment on KOLA…some are calling me jealous, even abusing me, others praising me for belling the cat. (sic),” he wrote.

But ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ music director Anirudh Ravichander thinks it’s an honor that his song has reached the ears of the likes of Javed Akhtar.

“Yes, I do. Javed Akhtar Saab is entitled to his opinion. I’m accepting his criticism. He is a legend and I’m happy that my song in my debut film has reached his ears. This is a Tamil song composed from Chennai. To have reached a level where he has heard it is a big achievement for me,” he said.

Even though he feels honored Anirudh doesn’t agree with the legend.

“Mine is a simple song and doesn’t require a great musical genius to compose it. It has a very simple tune. But I wouldn’t call it mediocre because if that was the case, it wouldn’t have reached out to so many people. The tune is catchy and the lyrics also attract. I suppose, there is some external force too working in the favor of the number,” he added.

‘Kolaveri Di’ song has now hit 19 million mark in YouTube.

Abhishek Bachchan said that he feels sad that the National Award winning actor, Dhanush, has only become famous thanks to his ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ song.

“He is a very dear friend of mine, Dhanush. Very famous and very prominent actor from Chennai. Off late, unfortunately they only seem to know him because of `Kolaveri Di` but, he has done great work down there. He is a wonderful actor,” said Abhishek Bachchan.

Like everyone else Junior Bachchan also can’t stop raving about the ‘Kolaveri Di’ song.

“I think it’s outstanding and I think it’s wonderful because it has been made by two very dear friends of mine, Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya. I think it’s a fantastic song. He is a very talented guy and Anirudh, the music director has done a great job. I wish them all the best. It’s one of the greatest songs of the year,” he said.

“It feels nice when people are open with their praise for your work. I honestly didn’t think the song would be such a craze. This has made me realize that people universally want only simple lyrics and simpler tune from filmmakers. My poor broken English lyrics, written in a silly tone, and borderline singing has proved to be advantageous for the success of this song,” he said.

“I agree the lyrics are absolute nonsense and are written in Tanglish. That’s probably why people everywhere relate to it,” he added.

The song is part of Rajini’s daughter, Aishwarya`s directorial debut movie, ‘3’, starring her husband Dhanush and Kamal Hasssan’s daughter Shruthi Haasan.

Rajinikanth, who is fan of this song since he first heard it, is so pleased with the response that the song has got that he might actually feature in its music video.

“Rajinikanth has loved Kolaveri and is clearly very happy and proud of the recognition the song is receiving. Now Aishwarya and Dhanush have requested him to do a special appearance in the movie “3″ and most likely he will be doing it,” said a source.

“He is still resting in Chennai and these days he is highly preoccupied with his grandkids. They happily dance to Kolaveri too,” the source added. The singer Dhanush revealed to a tabloid that they were planning on shooting 3 different music videos for the song.

“The language in Kolaveri is like no other song, and it has somehow become the USP. We are shooting three different videos for the song, sometime in December. We’re looking at videos that capture the mood of the song right now,” Dhanush told the tabloid.

When asked if Rajinikanth would be a part the music video he said, “We’d only love it if he’s part of everything we do.”

A song that was composed and written in less than 10 minutes has got everyone from kids to youth to old people to celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan hooked to it.

‘Why this kolaveri di’ with its broken Tamil and English (Tanglish) lyrics and a catchy tune has become a sleeper blockbuster by crossing 10 million hits and still going strong since its release on November 16 on YouTube.
